In May 2006, I realized that my former website, Iris Studios, Inc. no longer met the requirements for what the site had. Originally, Iris Studios was a place to host my art and various scripts that I had written. Over time, however, it became less of a "studio" and more of an open-source software project. Thus, on 1 August 2006, Blue Static was born. Initially, Blue Static only has updated versions of Iris Studios software, re-licensed under the GNU GPL.
Since its inception a year ago, Blue Static has released two major iterations of Bugdar, as well as other major projects. Recently, more minor projects are being published thanks to the switching to the Git source code management system, which allows for much cheaper repository hosting. The goal for the end of 2007 and the first half of 2008 is to release version 2.0 of Bugdar, as well as some new PHP libraries that will be used in it. Additionally, minor projects will continue to be published and written about on the blog.

My name is Robert and I'm 20 years old. I'm from northern California, but I now study Television at Boston University in Massachusetts. In my extremely limited spare time, I like to do programming, graphic design, and web design. In the past, I've been hired to do commercial projects for various companies, but at the moment, all of my coding efforts are concentrated on open source projects here at Blue Static.
I'm fluent in numerous programming languages, including PHP, C, C++, Objective-C (Cocoa), Ruby, Perl, Bash, CSS/HTML, JavaScript, and Java. I've also had experience in print publishing and graphic design for four years, so I'm versed in traditional design concepts such as typography, whitespace, and contrast.
Another hobby of mine is photography. I own a Nikon D200 and have loved using it. I have photography and photojournalism experience, also for print publications. Most of my photography is landscape, but I also enjoy shooting candids while either hanging out with friends or practicing street photography. I have yet to post any shots online, but at some point in the future, I may post a gallery or two.
As for the system I use, I have a 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro with two Seagate FreeAgent Pro external hard drives used for backup and external storage (attached via an ExpressCard eSATA controller), giving me a collective total of 1TB in storage.
