The value of a multiline string is truncated at the first newline character.

This is simply because of the behavior of the table view. I tried to add a value inspector for 1.2 but it proved to be too much effort for that release. It will be added, though.

I've added a HUD inspector which will allow you to select items in the variable list and it will display and select their full value.
